This Brand Is Already Manufacturing “Swadeshi Jeans” Even Before Baba Ramdev Announced It!

Baba Ramdev’s ‘Desi’ products have taken the market by storm. People have become crazy for those products and this is surely giving lot of business to ‘Patanjali’ stores. Few days back, Ramdev Baba had announced about his plans to launch ‘Swadeshi jeans’, which would give tough competition to other brands. However, he stated that it would take almost an year to execute this.

Is an year too long for you to wait? Worry not, as there is one brand which is already into this ‘Swadeshi Jeans’ concept. Yes, an Indian brand ‘DesiTude’ has been manufacturing pure Khadi jeans since 6 months now. This brand was started by Siddharth Mohan Nair, an Energy and Environmental Engineering from Kerala.

How it all started

Siddharth is a Khadi enthusiast and when asked how did this idea crop up in his mind, he says it was ‘BY CHANCE’. He saw this in some exhibition and thought of going ahead. Then, he jumped into the journey of entrepreneurship, a world filled with risks. He initial investment was just Rs 30,000 and that too on loan. Now, the brand is doing really well and is receiving a lot of positive response.

Price!

The price of this jeans is expensive i.e. around Rs 3,500, but this is because the production and material costs are high. Special denim is used, which is hand spun and this is the reason of the increased cost. Khadi Sangh manufactures the denim raw material and then it is pre-washed for several times, to check shrinking and color bleeding. Once these things are fine, then it is stitched.

As of now, they customize it only for single orders. Siddharth gets bulk orders from Abroad, but he refuses it because they want their jeans to be ‘Tailor-made’ for every customer depending on the color and size.
He says
“I have an emotional attachment to khadi, and I want that to continue. Khadi has a lot of human involvement, from collection the cotton to extraction and spinning. So I wanted the human touch in the garment too,”

He has taken care of the minutest detailing to make it appear like pure Khadi. The packing is also very unique and is made up of cotton. Women from an Andhra Pradesh village stitch it and earn their livelihood. The best thing about them is that after selling every denim, they plant a sapling.
The brand is truly committed to ‘India’ and hence instead of courier services, they dispatch the same through India post. So guys, wouldn’t you like to try it? Do share your views in our comments section below.
